“Hey, my name’s Arvind Shastri and I’m a first-generation immigrant born in Canada. I’m a sophomore university student specializing in software engineering. I’m interested in programming and coding design solutions, and have pursued a software degree in accordance. I graduated high school with honours, receiving a President’s Award scholarship to my university due to academic excellence. However, these grants are not enough to cover my university expenses.
Raised in a low income household, I’m extremely lucky to be in the position I am today with all the experiences I’ve been able to develop across recreational sports, arts and design, and technology. In order to actively take part in my post-secondary education, I’m in need of funding to get the right technology that can handle my course requirements and sustain my academics.
I’ve been indulged in arts since I was a kid, doodling and sketching with a pencil and paper since I was 3 years old. I first enrolled in karate when I was 8 years old, and 10 years of rigorous training later, I’m proud to call myself a black-belt martial artist and coach. In my free time, I love watching basketball, YouTube and game shows.”
