“I am currently a sophomore at Queens University of Charlotte, pursuing a major in nursing with a minor in Spanish. I am a DACA recipient and have been blessed to receive the Golden Door Scholarship to help get through college. I was born in Jamaica, and I came to the US when I was 4 years old. My family faced many financial circumstances, but we were able to make it through and sustain our family. The pandemic really hit our family, as both my parents were not able to work as often as they did. I am truly grateful to have a scholarship that can take care of my main college expenses, but there are so many other needs that are difficult for my family to cover.”
“I would like fundraise as much as I can. The funds will help to support me in securing textbooks and other materials that I need for classes. They will also help me to cover housing.”
